Privacy Policy
Your browser, your data.
The short version (extension)
- We run no servers and collect nothing. No accounts, analytics, telemetry, ads or tracking.
- Everything Jevvy stores stays on your device in Chrome's extension storage.
- To do a task, Jevvy sends page content and your instructions directly from your browser to the AI providers you configure using your own API keys.
- We never sell or share your data, and never use it for advertising, credit or lending decisions.
Part 1
Chrome Extension Privacy Policy
1. What Jevvy is
Jevvy is a Chrome side-panel extension. You describe a task in plain language and it carries the task out in your current tab by reading the page, clicking, typing, scrolling, extracting lists into tables and classifying items. Two AI models cooperate: an automation model (Jev) that makes fast per-step decisions, and a planning LLM that breaks tasks into steps. Both are reached with API keys you supply. Jevvy has no backend of its own.
2. Information Jevvy handles
2.1 Web page content
When you run a task, Jevvy reads the tab it is working in. On each step it captures:
- the page URL and title;
- the visible text of the page (about the first 2,500 characters per snapshot, and more when you ask it to extract data or classify a list);
- a list of the interactive elements currently on screen: buttons, links (their domain only), text fields, dropdowns, with their labels;
- the current value of visible text fields (truncated to 60 characters) and the options of dropdowns;
- for extract and classify tasks, the text of each list item or row.
Jevvy only reads the tab you are running a task in, and only while a task is running. It does not read tabs in the background or browse on its own.
Sensitive fields. Jevvy treats password fields and fields that look like card numbers, security codes or national ID numbers as sensitive: it leaves them out of what it sends to the models and refuses to type into them. This detection is based on field type and naming, so it is a safeguard, not a guarantee. Anything else visible on the page, including personal content such as emails or messages if you ask Jevvy to work on them, can be part of what is sent.
2.2 Your instructions and conversation
The tasks and follow-ups you type, answers you give when Jevvy asks a question, and short facts derived from them (for example a destination you mentioned) are used to plan and carry out the task and to keep context across follow-ups in the same chat.
2.3 Task results and history
The transcript of each chat (your instructions, step logs, outcomes and any result tables) is saved locally so you can reopen or continue it. Result tables can be exported by you as a CSV file downloaded to your device.
2.4 API keys and settings
The API keys you enter (Jev/TypeSafe, Vercel AI Gateway, OpenAI or Anthropic), your chosen providers and models, and preferences such as theme, "confirm risky actions" and "show step details" are stored locally.
2.5 What Jevvy does not collect
- No name, email address or account information (Jevvy has no accounts).
- No browsing history, bookmarks, cookies, passwords, payment details or screenshots.
- No usage analytics, crash reports, device identifiers or location.
3. How the information is used
Only to perform the task you asked for: to decide the next action, plan steps, fill forms with values you provided, extract or classify content, and show you the result. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to Jevvy's single purpose of carrying out your browser tasks.
4. Who receives data
Jevvy sends data from your browser straight to the AI providers you chose in Settings, over HTTPS, authenticated with your own API keys. We do not receive, proxy or see this traffic. Depending on your settings, the recipients are:
| Provider | Role | Endpoint |
|---|---|---|
| TypeSafe (Jev) | Automation model | api.typesafe.ai |
| Vercel AI Gateway | Automation and/or planner | ai-gateway.vercel.sh |
| OpenAI | Planner | api.openai.com |
| Anthropic | Planner | api.anthropic.com |
The automation model receives the goal, the page URL and title, the on-screen page text, the menu of available elements and recent actions, and, for risk checks, a description of the action about to be taken. The planner receives your instructions, earlier turns of the conversation, the current page URL, title and text, and, for extraction, the page or list text being read. Only the providers you selected are contacted.
Once data reaches a provider, that provider's own terms and privacy policy apply, including how long it retains data and whether it is used to train models. Please review them: TypeSafe, Vercel, OpenAI, Anthropic. Because you use your own keys, your relationship with each provider is directly with them.
Apart from these providers, Jevvy shares data with no one. We do not sell it, rent it, or transfer it to data brokers or advertisers, and we do not use or transfer it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
5. Storage, retention and deletion
- Where:
chrome.storage.localon your device. Nothing is synced to a Jevvy server. - History: the 50 most recent chats are kept, each with up to 800 transcript entries; older chats are removed automatically.
- Delete a chat: use the delete control in the History screen.
- Delete everything: remove your keys in Settings, and uninstall the extension in
chrome://extensions; Chrome erases its stored data on removal.
Keys and chats are stored in Chrome's extension storage, which is isolated from web pages but is not separately encrypted by Jevvy. Anyone with access to your unlocked Chrome profile or device could read them, so use keys with spending limits and rotate them if you suspect exposure.
6. Why each permission is needed
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| sidePanel | Shows the Jevvy interface in Chrome's side panel. |
| activeTab, tabs | Identify the tab you are working in, bring it to the front, open a new tab when you ask, and check that a conversation's tab still exists. |
| scripting | Run the extension's bundled content script in the task tab to read the page and perform clicks, typing and scrolling. |
| storage, unlimitedStorage | Save your settings, keys and chat history on your device. |
| Host access to ai-gateway.vercel.sh, api.typesafe.ai, api.openai.com, api.anthropic.com | Call the AI providers you choose. |
| Optional access to all sites | Requested at runtime, the first time you run a task, so Jevvy can act on the site you are on. You can decline it or revoke it any time in chrome://extensions. |
Jevvy does not load or run remotely hosted code. All code ships inside the extension package.
7. Safeguards while Jevvy acts
- It never types into password or card fields, and its planning instructions forbid entering payment details or one-time codes; bookings stop at the payment page.
- Clicks that look like a purchase, send, delete or submit go through a risk check and wait for your approval (this can be switched off in Settings, which we recommend leaving on).
- Text from web pages is passed to the models as untrusted data, not instructions, to reduce the risk of prompt injection. This reduces but cannot eliminate the risk, so supervise tasks on sensitive sites.
- Step limits, loop detection and a Stop button apply, and closing the side panel stops any running task.
8. Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure
The use of information received from Chrome APIs and from web pages will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide and improve Jevvy's user-facing task automation feature, is not sold, is not used for personalised ads, and is not read by humans except with your consent, for security, to comply with law, or when aggregated and anonymised for internal operations.
9. Your choices and rights
You control what Jevvy sees: it works only when you start a task, only in the tab you pick, and you can stop it or decline site access at any time. You can choose which providers receive data, view and delete your saved chats, and remove your keys. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or erase on our side; requests about data held by an AI provider should go to that provider. Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA) you may have additional rights against those providers.
10. Children
Jevvy is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their information.
11. Changes to this policy
If Jevvy's data practices change, we will update this page and the effective date above, and, for material changes, note them in the extension's release notes before they take effect.
